Hosted by the International Exchange Association of Jinan University East Campus, the "EIC Cup" English Speech Contest was successfully held from April 1 to April 10, 2025. With the core purpose of building an English communication platform and enhancing cross-cultural expression ability, this contest aimed to stimulate students' passion for English learning, temper their language application and critical thinking skills, and inject vitality of international exchange into the campus culture.

This speech contest proceeds in an orderly manner through two stages: the preliminary round and the final round, adhering to the principles of fairness, justice and openness throughout, and providing a high-quality stage for all participants to showcase themselves. In the preliminary round, the organizer scientifically and reasonably divided the participants into groups according to the number of registrations to ensure that each participant had equal opportunities to compete; the participants in each group drew lots on site to determine the order of appearance, and displayed their respective strengths in a standardized and orderly competitive atmosphere, fully demonstrating their solid English language skills and unique personal charm. The professional jury, composed of key teachers of English majors in the school, relevant persons in charge of the International Exchange Office and excellent foreign teachers, strictly scored comprehensively around several core dimensions such as the expression of speech content, the standard of pronunciation and intonation, the completeness of logical structure, and the appropriateness of stage deportment. Then, according to the proportion of the number of participants in each group, they accurately selected and chose the best from the best, and finally determined a group of outstanding participants with excellent strength to advance to the final, laying a solid foundation for the wonderful presentation of the final.

The final round was held as scheduled on April 10. The advancing contestants drew lots on site to decide their competition order and delivered wonderful speeches around diverse themes. With fluent English expression, distinct viewpoints and confident stage presence, the contestants won rounds of applause from the audience. After the final, the judging panel calculated the scores on site and announced the results immediately, followed by an award ceremony where honorary certificates were presented to the winners. In the post-contest summary session, the representative of the judging panel spoke highly of the overall quality of the contest and put forward targeted improvement suggestions for the contestants.

The successful holding of this "EIC Cup" English Speech Contest has not only built a high-quality platform for Jinan University students to show themselves and exchange ideas, but also effectively sparked an upsurge in English learning on campus, helping students improve their international vision and cross-cultural communication literacy. The International Exchange Association of Jinan University East Campus stated that it will continue to launch more distinctive academic and cultural activities in the future, contributing to promoting international campus exchanges and the all-round development of students.
