In May, the English Corner of the Commercial College of University of Jinan hosted a cultural exchange event themed "Chinese Tea and Dessert", inviting two foreign teachers to interact with students.

The venue was tastefully decorated, with classic Chinese teas including Longjing, Pu'er and jasmine tea on display, paired with delicate desserts like sweet-scented osmanthus cakes and peach blossom pastries. A student representative gave a bilingual introduction to Chinese tea culture, covering tea types, brewing skills, the cultural concept of "tea and Zen as one" and tea-dessert pairing principles, which sparked great interest among the foreign teachers. They even tried their hand at making Gongfu tea themselves.
During the tasting session, the foreign teachers praised the Chinese desserts highly and shared their own food cultures, such as the British tradition of black tea with scones and local fruit tea with cookies, triggering lively discussions about the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western food preferences.

The foreign teachers also offered practical English learning tips to the students, such as vocabulary accumulation in daily scenarios and practicing oral English boldly.

As a key platform for international cultural exchange on campus, the English Corner is dedicated to breaking language barriers. This event not only showcased the elegance of traditional Chinese food culture but also provided students with a relaxed real-life environment to practice English, achieving mutual cultural and knowledge exchange.
